How do math geniuses understand extremely hard math concepts so quickly?

Answer by Sophia De Tricht:

I am nobody's mathematical genius by a long shot. I actually have a complicated relationship with math. Two fundamental problems of Calculus? I got it. N-dimensional geometry? No problem. Chaos Theory? Knot Theory? Algebraic Topology? Triple-fucking-check!

What's 8 x 6?

Oh, goddammit…

Some people (like me) grasp concepts very easily. Some people grasp mechanics (like solving equations) very easily.I find that what's helped me in my ease of grasping concepts is visualization. If I can see it in my head, I've got it pretty much forever. Literally the only reason I'm comfortable with trigonometry is an article I saw on IFLScience  a couple of years ago that had a bunch of GIFs that describe trig functions and what they actually mean. It's actually really, really simple. Embarrassingly simple.

Doesn't make the calculations any easier, though. But sometimes humor helps.
